Should I accept paypal?

Someone pm'd me about an item I have listed for $350 in the classifieds. He has zero posts on CA. He asks me if I will accept paypal. I tell him in this instance I would rather receive a USPS money order for fear of a chargeback as I have heard this is common.

So my questions are:

What risks are associated with accepting paypal even if I wait to ship until the payment has transferred to my bank account?

If I keep a copy of the tracking info will I be ok?

What can I tell him to make a USPS money order more appealing, if that is indeed a safer way to do a transaction?

I would really like to get this sold so any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

You can still get *** ***** not matter what steps you take to prevent a charge back. The only thing you can do to 100% protect yourself is to open a new checking account, open a new PayPal account, receive the payment, transfer funds to checking account, withdraw funds from checking account, close checking account.

At this point you will cash in hand. That is the only way you are 100% safe. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

And before people flame me for not knowing how PayPal works, it is just a matter of time before each and every PayPal user gets *** *****. I used to do 50 to 100 transactions per day with PayPal via my eBay store. I lost probably 50 charge backs that is was 100% in the right. They just don't give a fuck!

I have heard many horror stories like this. I have sold a few things here and fortunately, I have been ok so far but just don't want to get burned for $350.

Suppose mileage varies. To date I've won every attempted charge-back (only a few) and never lost money following the above steps.

I have heard quite a few problem stories, though. I am not sure if they all actually required signature deliveries and shipped to confirmed addresses. Did you do so in all cases loopkiller ?

I have had many of instances where I had not only a Confirmed US address that matched public records, an adult signature that was legible from UPS, emails from the buyer stating they received their order and needed help configuring the item, positive feedback on eBay from the buyer, proof that the buyer broke the item and admitted so in email, and still lost the charge back.

Here it is in a nutshell. If you sell someone something, no matter the terms under which you sell something, they have every right to return the item within 45 days of payment. They can file a PayPal claim stating it was not as advertised and win the claim. You can fight it and ask for the item back in some cases. They will escrow the funds until the item is shipped back. All they ask for is a return tracking number. Once they have the tracking number from the buyer, they release the funds to the buyer.

Now when that package arrives and it is an empty box, take a guess if they give a fuck?

use an escrow service. It costs more then paypal, but its harder to scam.

Buyer sends money to escrow, you ship, escrow sends you the money.

And do not let him pick the escrow service. Some are scam sites.
