Shallow 8" Subs!?!

Hey guys and gals,

Here is my first post...

I have a 1992 Toyota Celica All-trac Turbo. Like the GT-S, it has the premium sound system called the System 10. Kind of nice actually. I've got 4 tweets, 4 mids, and two factory 8" subs in the door. I have put in the eclipse 7002 tuner/monitor with the in-dash 6 CD changer, dvd, 2 10" eclipse 87's, and an eclipse 32440 amp. My next project is the rest of the 10 speakers. My HUGE problem is that the factory subs in the doors are very shallow, and due to the rarity of the vehicle, I will not cut any metal out of the doors. It seems that Illusion Audio may be out of business. They weren't the the Vegas CES show, and the number is disconnected. All the shallow applications I am finding are pre-enclosed home systems. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. The closest I am finding so far is the Blau 10" flats, but 10 is no good. Grrr. Thanks.

I am not sure. I haven't pulled the panel in a while. Could I just have a list of subs that have a very shallow depth. Thanks in advance.

ok..ive seen these things mounted in doors - somebody called Phase Linear, a very popular company in Europe, do a range of subs called Aliante. They have the most shallow mounting depth of a sub I know. The Aliante range is v.expensive but its SQ and can take lots of RMS - they did a Limited Edition Aliante capable of taking AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF RMS ON ANY AMP MANUFACTURED PRIOR to 1998 - NO JOKE. Try http://www.ampman.com - they're the only place I knwo who do them & also search for pahse linear in google. Good luck!
