Shallow 8" midbass?

I want to put 8" midbasses in the front doors of my '92 Honda Accord. In my old car I had some 7"s that were about 2.75" deep, but I ran them with a 1" spacer, and they were almost touching the door.

For the 8"s I'd be willing to cut out of the door panel, but I can't really do much more than 3 1/2" or the window won't clear the magnet. Then again there is always air conditioning. Anyways, can anyone recommend any good, shallow 4 ohm 8" midbasses?

But the frequency response is so narrow... and I don't know how or where I'd mount a midrange to cover the gap.

Tang Band has some 'full range' speakers of 1-2" diameters... maybe I'll see how those sound. I'd just hate to buy all this stuff and have it sound like trash...
