I installed a USA-600X amp and an IDQ12D2 recently and would like a little help understanding a few of the settings on the amp.
The sub is in a very small sealed box 0.85^ft3.
I've done a bit of search and I haven't been able to dig up the answers I am looking for.
1) The amp has a subsonic filter and I've done a bit of reading and what I gather is this is more useful for a ported box.
Should I have the subsonic filter On or Off?
2) Because I have only delt with a small handful of amps and subs I really don't feel I have enough knowledge or experience to really know what is better.
The amp has a sub freq knob that is configurable from 50Hz to 500Hz. I listen to Rock/Blues/Jazz.
I am seeking your experience to know where I should have this knob set. I am guessing somewhere around the 80Hz range.
But I do not know what frequences most Kick drums and bass guitars play at.
3) I tried checking my gain using the JL tutorial and a
50Hz test tone and my voltage should be around 44.72.
I disconnected the speakers and turned the sub control (on the deck) up to it's max and let the test tone repeat and I tried to measure the voltage.
No matter which way I turned the gain knob the reading stayed around 69.xx.
I am sure there are several possible things I was doing wrong here.
I am not very familar with DMMs. The DMM I am using has two AC settings 200, or 500.
I had it set at 200 because that was closest to the range I was testing for.
Any input would be appericated.
