Setting ZX400.1 Gains

I have 2 W3011's and a ZX400.1, I have plans to get a bigger amp but this will have to do for now.

Anyway while setting the gains on my amp, i noticed that my amp put out 36.5 Vrms at 50HZ. Subs were clean, There was no clipping.

Amp was seeing a 2ohm load.

All volt reading's were readings were taken with a Fluke 87, calibrated 10/22/04

+/- .5%

Vrms HZ

33.2 20

34.5 25

35.8 35

36.7 40

36.5 50

36.8 70

So does that mean my amp is making ~650Wrms

the birth sheet says 445Wrms at 2ohms, but according to those voltages that would be wrong

To measure power you need an RMS Clamp Meter and a good DMM. That can measure power, but wouldn't tell you if it is clipped or not. To ensure it is clean power, you would also need an oscilloscope. Handheld Fluke oscope's go for about $1,000. Larger analog ones anywhere from $300-$3,000 or so. I got lucky and grabbed my 60mhz dual-band analog Oscope for free from a teacher in a tech lab whom I became pretty good friends with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

For subs you can have as much as 10% distortion and never hear it. Your amp might make that kind of output, but you ARE clipping the hell out of the signal and you have no headroom.
