setting gains?

well on my kicker 750.1 running at 2 ohms, i reset my HU and put volume to 48/62

then on a clean song pretty much turned it on let it play

then started to turn up the gain till about half way and it sounded 100% fine

shouldn't the gain mostly be lower than 1/2? i havnt bolted the subs into the box yet( t test if i had right wiring and everything worked etc..), and just about at 1/2 they started to jump up, so i backed it down ha

but in general shouldn't gains be not higher than 1/2?

There's a lot more to do with it than that it shouldn't usually be more than 1/2 way up.

I have preouts that do 5 volts and my amp is 6 volts at the minimum so mine barely even gets turned at all.

well i have 2 subs that do a total of 800rms,, the amp is a kicker 750.1 and its running 2 ohms

about half its hitting pretty hard for the volume level, and 0 bass on the headunit or amp with volume 48/62 i cant really hear the clipping if any... would it be bad for the amp to just run it a bit low? or not

it goes to 11 so half is like 5.5 and i have it set to like 4 area

also what should a good area for frequency really be? its around 80 atm
