Setting Gains

when setting the gains,where should the output level on the active crossover be?? low or max or 3/4???? nobody ever tells how to set them with a crossover in line.

Two ways to go about it. One is to set the gain on the amp as low as possible and then use the output level control on the crossover to set the amp output. The other option is to set the output level of crossover to 2-3v using a test tone and then set the amp gain as normal. Depending on the components in question either may be a better solution.
