If ur amp is right there in the open not under anything that has to be unbolted i think thats high. Seems like the only shops ive ever heard of doing it wit a scope are owned by the guys posting tutorials on the net. The rest of them blast whatever i happen to have on the ipod or in the cd player and use that whether its ideal music for the purpose or not. I retune every amp i get installed.

$65 sounds about right for a shop. They probably figure it as 1 hour of work, which is usually the minimum charge, and $65 is what it would be.

If he takes the time to do it right (Test rca's at head unit, and output of amplifier) it will probbaly take just over a hour.

yea the guy i talked to seemed to know what he was doing installation wise... he was a older guy and seemed pretty knowledgeable about installs. I just cant justify 65 bucks though.

Of those 3 smaller companies, the only I have ever seen in a store was an XXX. Not sure what year. And dude wanted like 800 for it.

Most places near me carry the regular shit. You might catch a Diamond amp here and there, but it's mostly JL, Memphis, Hifonics, Pioneer etc. No Sundown, No AQ, none of that.

You hear that Sundown eD, and AQ reps......Chicago needs you. People tend to go with what they know, but if you can show them your product is as quality as the everyday brands, people will buy.

that how it is and probably always will be. Once they get bigger and start generating the profits the beast grows, mergers may happen, and the small guys get commercialized. I remember back when scott and dave ran RE out of warehouse in Nevada. You pray for the upcoming brand to keep its superior quality at an affordable price, but usually one of the 2 will sacrifice and sooner or later you have another JL audio. Personally i like the small companies and how they run things. Each entity's eventually goal is to become the leader in the market, and it's a cycle that continues year after year. IMO it's the smaller companies know wtf they are doing best.

I'm not saying they pitch to Best buy, but local mom and pop shops here don't carry the small name/great quality stuff. Everybody who's loud here more than likely is running the same setup. I just want to see in my local shop a Sundown amp or some AQ subs. But I respect their way of business too. It's a guy here that hand makes some of the loudest speakers I have ever heard, as well as a sub that weighs like 65 pounds, but he will only keep his business confined to his shop and his spot at the flea market.
