serpentine belt tensioner

ha! well anyways is there a place where i can get oem tensioners?
Dont replace the tensioner, it is doing its job.

The problem is that you are running a smaller pulley on your alternator which is where you are loosing your tension. Find a slightly shorter belt that will fit and be done with it.

If you put a brand new tensioner on it the same thing will happen.

Ive had a similar issue with my car, but only on hard shifts. Its due to running the smaller alt pulley, as I have swapped it out with the OEM size and the problem has gone away.

What I have been thinking about doing is getting a set of underdrive pulleys and replacing one of the other pulleys down the line to account for the alt pulley so I can run the same size belt. Ill bet you if you swap your OEM pulley on the alt it will solve the slippage issue, but then the alt isnt going to produce as much power since it will be spinning slower.

Part# for yours is 4060889.

You can also look through the chart and try and find one a little shorter. Go into your local parts supplier with that part number.

o god cry less and fix more. tears are not wrenches
wtf is your problem. iv tryed the smallest belt that shops have and it wont fit. i need 1/4 inch smaller belt. smallest here is 1/2 inch. i dont think it will stop. cuz when the volt reg is on it slips. when its off it dose not

It was my tensioner pulley. Got a new one for $45 and replaced it myself in 15 mins. Very easy!
the pulley on my jeeps tensioner fell off on my drive from mn to fl a few weeks ago. All that was left was parts of the bearing rings around the bolt that holds the pulley on. Fixing it was easy it was sleeping in the back of the jeep waiting for advance auto to open that kinda sucked lol. I didnt lose the belt though as it was spinning on what was left of the bearings.

i can move it pretty easily with a ratchet on the pulley bolt, but the 5.2 has like 240k on it so not sure how tight its supposed to be. it doesnt move while idleing though.
