Serious question

My friend is contemplating a large build. A wall, with 2 15's or 4 12's.

His question to you guys is: is he better getting 2 15's that he can run full RMS power to, or 4 12's that he can run 75-80% of their RMS each?

Either way, it will be ported at 35hz, and full sealed from the back. He just wants answers as to which will give the best mix of deep lows and pressure inside his cabin.

just a suggestion, but why not decide port tuning after you decide what subs... crazy i know, but just a suggestion...

Four 12's will have more cone area. Two 15's have a cone area of 94.2 inches, and four 12's have 150 inches of cone area.

He doesn't use online help, but is over here drinking with us and wants to know.

35hz is a generalization, will be somewhere around there.

And not the same motors as you implied. He has 2000rms to play with.

Option 1 is the 15's at 1krms each.

Option 2 is the 12's at 500 rms each, when they need 600.

I honestly believe that the 4 underpowered 12's would be better than the pair of 15's, but he isn't as sure......
