Series/Parallel wiring question?

Running a JL cleansweap and summing unit with 600 watt 4 channel amp, 4 5-1/4 4 ohm door speakers.

Would like to add four more speakers ( any size 4ohm ) to the rear deck of my car. Can i wire two of the four channels in a Series/Parallel fashion with four speakers per channel ( keeping 4 ohm load ) and the remaining two channels having one speaker per channel in the front? Or would that be too much strain on my amp?

idea shown : Series Vs. Parallel Wiring

under Series/Parallel section.

Equipment:

Cadillac CTS

JL Cleansweap + summing unit + Sub Control

Orion Cobalt CO6004

Alpine SPS-500 x4

Some old ppi's and 750w kenwood amp

Thanks!

Any advice on how to add more speakers a different way is welcome.

Should be able to. Depends on things with crossovers though. Are you planning on running coax speakers, components speakers, or just partial range speakers (like mid or midbass drivers)?

If components, run all the same type of components and run them using ONE crossover unit per channel on the amp. Otherwise you can have some weird issues with getting the wrong signals to the wrong speakers because of the messed up crossover settings.

I dont have any types of speakers picked out yet. Which of those three types would be easiest to install? what if i used the same speakers i have in the doors?

why do you want four more speakers behind you? The CTS is a nice car, there is no nice looking way to add that many speakers without a lot of customization. if you are doing all of that work, add speakers to the front. same amount of effort with A LOt more benefit.

if you want more volume, you can do that without adding speakers behind you by investing in better speakers and a better amp.

... but that's just my opinion. with three 4 ohm speakers per channel - there isn't much you can do other than wire them in parallel for 1.34 ohms.

best bet to do what you want - get 2 ohm midrange/midbass drivers - like the Image DynamicS CX62 and then wire them in series for a 4 ohm load per channel - then wire that in parallel with the rears for 2 ohm per channel.
