Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

If you think bigger subs = lower bass and smaller subs = punchier tighter bass then you are believing in myths that should have died a long time ago.
I have a question:

The myth about smaller subs not hitting low enough has been talked about for a while now. But can smaller subs hit as deep than say a 15 or a 18? It's physically impossible no? Let's say you have like 10 8's in a custom enclosure with a big port, would it ever stand a chance against 1 18" custom enclosure? I'm just talking about deepness, not loudness. Or does it have more to do with the sub specs? Does small subs have equal opportunity than bigger subs if space was no concern.

I have seen people on youtube use like 6.5" speakers and make a badazz sub enclosure.. I don't know how deep it goes though.

They both play their designated frequencies, the 18 only sounds lower because of more cone area moving more air, its louder on all frequency ranges giving the illusion that it can hit lower but they both can reach low given proper enclosures for each. There's 4 inch subs hitting 20hz out there so i dont see why 8s cant either.

OP, do you have polyfill? Try stuffing it in the box, since its a sealed box and its a lot smaller then those kickers need, it might help balance out the sound. You should play around with the position of where the sub fires, it makes a big difference too. Try to have it shooting into a trunk corner or towards rear of the trunk/hatch.

good example of that mainstream under built bullsh*t would be kicker CWR 15 rated 1200 watts rms, CWR 12s rated 800 watts rms, CWR 10 rated 600 watts, no duh there's a friggen difference in sound, its a completely different woofer with weaker parts. Compared to the sundown SA line. Beefy subs from all the way from their 18s to their 8"s good lows all around.

I've only fooled around with JBL, Infinity, Polk home audio and 10" woofer can produce lower bass w/better quality than 8". Ditto for 12" vs. 10".

I don't know the dynamics of two 8"s vs. one 10". I was just asking how that works; two drivers are producing two waves vs. one driver producing one wave.

If I build proper ported box using two 8" Kickers and more power I can improve the output and quality?

OP, do you have polyfill?
Yes, I fooled around with loose and heavy fill. Better response using fill vs. no fill.

yes you can, having the box face towards the trunk lid will improve output and low end response too.

here's some free designs if you need it *OFFICIAL* Free Ported Box Plans (56k NO!!) - SRT Forums - SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, SRT10 & Dodge Forum

You gotta know that when a sub has more cone area, it gets louder easier at EVERY end of the spectrum. When its louder and clearer, it sounds better. Quality of the driver and of course, above all else, The enclosure design is what determines how good the sub sounds.

If you have that mindset man, just sell those kickers and get a pair of 12 inch subs in a ported box tuned to 32-34hz and be happy with it. Because it sounds like you just need it louder with some low end.

Put them both in a ported box with fill. You'll notice a big difference. Correct me if I'm wrong but those are 07 cvr 8's right? I run 2 of the 12's in a 4.5 cube box with polyfill tuned to 34 hertz and it hits low and sounds very good for kickers and I'm running them on 1500 rms at 1 ohm. And don't get it twisted I'm not one of those people that think kickers are the best subs ever. I've heard sundown's, dd, alpine type r's, ect. So I know sound quality. The size doesn't determine how loud or low they get. Its all about the hu, amp, enclosure and cone area.

07 cvr 8'
Yes, they are. They've been a decent addition to my system - just fall a little short.

Thanks Jeff and Baby. I think it's time to do things properly now. I'm not looking to shake the car, I'm not a rapper - I need more low end for Black Sabbath, etc.

No problem. By the way what amp you running? Some amps don't play all the notes as well as others. When I first got the kickers I have I traded a guy a 100 dollar laptop for them and he had a ****** insignia amp and it didn't play very low notes at all and the ones it did sounded like ****. Then I eventually bought a cheap 100 dollar chinese 7 inch touchscreen off ebay sound quality was horrible so I listed it on the local craigslist and some guy traded me an spl z1x3000d mono block for it and that amp made a massive difference in sound quality.
