Hi all. Today has been a crash course back into car audio for me. And you fellas post some funny shite... as well as a lot of interesting technical info. Thank you.
After a few hours of searching / reading posts here, I still can't find exactly what I need... but I'm certain this will be an easy one for some of you.
I'm starting to rebuild my system and looking to pair a single sub with my Alpine MRP-1000.
SQ vs SQL
I used to love JL back in the day... yes, just like everyone else. That loud yet deep, rich sound was fantastic. From what I've read here, this would mean I'm leaning more towards SPL. I would have picked up a 12W6v2-D4 but the RMS is low and I know there's gotta be better options out there. [side note, I dropped in a Hifonics HFi 12D4 as a cheap stand-in which sounded decent... till it melted, of course. That was pretty funny.]
Parameters are:
* 12" DVC 4ohm sub
* will be wired in parallel [2 ohm load]
* able to handle ~1000W RMS
* currently have a ~1cu/ft, rear facing, sealed enclosure and would like to keep this... I need the trunk space
* vehicle is an 03 Audi A4
* as for music, I listen to a lot of drum and bass, metal and some hip hop [ I noticed the Hifonics wasn't too accurate with the faster stuff]
* budget = $100 - $300
Normally, I wouldn't have posted this and just figured it out on my own. But when roads started leading to the Type Arrrrr, I figured it would be best to consult you fellas.
Thanks all
