Wow. Way to put each of those drivers in enclosures they don't want to be in.
L7s love ported enclosures and the ME loves sealed enclosures. If you're wanted just output, buy the L7. You don't seem to really have a clue about what's going on so it will sound beautiful to you.

Poor SQ will result from putting subs in incorrect enclosures which is exactly what you're doing!
So a 15in. ME wants to be in a 3cf sealed enclosure. And putting an L7 in a sealed box...well, I might as well just kill myself.

There are a few sound quality world champions that disagree with you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Yeah, the one's sponsored by Kicker. Install is 90% of the game, but most SQ is done at low volume anyway. Pretty much any decent sub can suffice in SQ contest. I'm sure if those guys weren't sponsored by Kicker and were picking any sub on the market, the L7 wouldn't be their choice. But, if you're sponsored, you make it work. I think the fact they're winning says more about their install and setup capabilities than the L7's SQ capabilities. IMHO. You know all this though.

I'm not one of those who try to say the L7s sound like @$$. Heck, I'm running a pair of them right now. But, they're definitely SPL subs and there are definitely (a lot) better choices for SQ.

Like I said, putting an L7 in a sealed enclosure simply takes away from it's greatest strength. It's one of the last subs I'd recommend for a sealed enclosure.

I only listen to Rap and r&b...so I really dont need to much SQ. Just something that doesnt sound like a PA MOFO.

ME sealed will sound very nice, get decently loud, and will be pretty accurate. Ported, it will be sloppy, hollow, and peaky. I did not like the sound of them ported at all. Was it louder? Of course. Did I enjoy it? Hell no.
I was really considering a Me ported but sloppy, hollow, and peaky is not what I want...

also, what is the sub displacement for a 15in L7? Looked on the web site and didnt see it.....unless it has an abbreviation.
276.5 cubic inches (0.16 cu-ft). It's listed in the tech support section of their web site. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And the poll is wrong, an L7 should be ported, not sealed.

would putting the L7 in a 2.5cf box tuned to 34 after sub and port displacement do more bad then good? Will it sound like shyt???
What the fuсk is wrong with your reading comprehension!? Have you not understood anything?

Ported enclosures sound bad WHEN YOU PUT A SUB IN THEM THAT DOES NOT WANT TO BE PORTED.

Sealed enclosures sound bad WHEN YOU PUT A SUB IN THEM THAT DOES NOT WANT TO BE SEALED.

The L7 will sound great in 2.5 tuned to 34 actually.

well Kicker recommends at least 3cf ported so 2.5 is quite small which is why I asked peoples opinions on this. As far as your response I dont know if thats sarcasm or not but....lik my balls!

im on here to learn more, wise one. If I knew the answer i wouldnt have asked but when I get a smartazz comment I tend to get on the defensive...so, once again lik my balls!

L7 15's are actually really good speakers for SQ sealed....

obviously the square shape is more prone to distortion, because it has less structural rigidity than a round one, but that extra displacement lets it work in HUGE sealed enclosures, for a really smooth, flat response.

Putting an L7 in a sealed enclosure smaller than 4-6 cubes is a shame, tho, that much pressure is gonna distort the shit out of the square cone, PLUS you're missing out on all the output you could get if it was ported.

ok. I guess Ill go with the Me ported since im not lookin for a shi**y sound...hope it gets loud enough for me. Dont really know what to expect from an SQl sub.

I'd do the 15 Oz ME sealed for good SQL. Immacomputer is right, the MEs CAN work ported, but they just sound soooo much better in big sealed boxes where they can drop low and show you just how bass is supposed to sound. Ported you are just gonna lose all that tonal goodness that makes the Oz so special.
