Sealed or Ported

Hello guys,

Ive been thinking about buying the DeafBonce Machete ML-12R sub, and I need to know if I can use it in a sealed box. In the manual it only gives recommendations for ported boxes but nothing for sealed. I just want to make sure it will work fine with a sealed box.

Doesn't look like a good choice for sealed. Look at the Alpine Type S or Dayton Reference if you really want a sealed enclosure.

I'm torn between a 15" sealed subwoofer and a 12" ported subwoofer for my 2021 Explorer ST... I still haul DJ gear around so I need it to be removable and oddly, they will weigh about the same. I think the Dayton HO 15 needs 1.6 cubic feet net and most 12s will need around 1.5 to 1.75 cubic feet ported.

Sealed will be sub up in the hatch area and ported will be the classic sub up, port back in the hatch area. I just can't bring myself to do a shallow mount hidden and give up low end extension, lol. EDIT: Plus, I don't want to throw more than 1,000 watts at the sub, which I currently have...
