sealed or ported???

i have a thunder 9515" ina ported box right now, 2.5 cubes of mtx specs. But, im looking into buying a 2 cubic foot mtx spec sealed box? will it sound any different, better or worse, shoudl i get it?????? .... in a corolla trunk

well what is your box tuned to? in theory it should have less output and better sq

A sealed enclosure will generally have less output (not as loud) as a ported enclosure. Also, they tend to have better SQ, and have a much flatter repsonse curve, versus the ported enclosure that will have a strong peak.

What are your expectations from your substage? Are you looking for output, or do you prefer sound quality over how loud something gets?

Loud- ported

Sealed- SQ heaven

If a sealed box gets great SQ and poor output, then instead of having to have a big amp and push tons of power through subs in a sealed box, why not just mount a real nice set of 6x9's in the rear dash if you want good SQ and not have big powerfull bass???? From what I read on here most of the time, it seems everyone thinks sealed boxes are complete pieces of crap and are good for nothing....well besides SQ.
