sealed or ported in a honda civic trunk???

12's but, i have cvx's now. Is that a problem??? I let a friend borrow my subs and he cant get the box out the trunk, so I have his cvx"s now. With me changin from square to round, will that be a downgrade???

lots of people told me to put my type r 15 in a ported box...well i have it in a sealed box running off of 1000 rms daily and gets effing loud. And you will have the most accuracy with a sealed box. Sealed sounds good as well. oh by the way I have a 1994 honda civic (trunk car) and my sub sealed has no problems shaking my door handles, mirrors, seats, center console, trunk lid, hub caps etc. and it hits loowwwwwwwwwww.

Not always true. Not even close. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if you can build a good ported box....or pay someone to build you a good ported box...it will be just as accurate.

but i do love the fact that your alpine is shaking your hubcaps....must sound nice rollin down the street

Nope, not necessarily a downgrade at all. It's going to be highly install dependent. Just think of all the times we've heard 8" or 10" subs outperform (in SPL and/or accuracy) their 12" or 15" brethren because the smaller subs were installed with care and attention to detail where as the larger subs were thrown in some off the shelf prefab box and sound like teh poo.

Regardless of the physics behind it, a square cone does not make it inherently louder than its round brethren. There's just too many factors.

loud? i had a civic, it was respectably loud for a single 15.

o ok. cantn someone tell me what this box is tuned to??? 34w x 13t x 24d It has (2) 2in ports that goes back 17 5/8 and then a 90 degree pivot that goes 5.5 inches.
Are you mother****ing serious? I can tell just by looking at what you wrote that the box is tuned FAR too low, like

Okay, I was right. Using 3/4" wood and counting the subs' displacement as .5 cubic feet, you're tuned at 12.7~ hz. That tuning is two octaves too low. I wouldn't even tune a home theatre enclosure that low. If you took out the ports altogether and just left the 2" holes, you'd be tuned at 37hz, which is livable.

lmao!!!! I had this box built about a year ago. I sold it to a friend. For it to be tuned that low, Im doing serious damage. ok, check this out. I want to change since u said some thing now. 36w x 24d x 13t What size port should I do eith a 90 degree pivot???
