Sealed AND ported??

K. Full size ext cab chevy. No back seat. Love my pair of 10" w6 sealed. Sound awesome with music which is mostly rock some hip hop. Love how tight and accurate they sound but want more of the same. Been tninking about adding another pair with another 1000/1. What about two sealed and two ported? Is this an option for the best of both worlds? Or can a ported box sound as accurate and tight as my sealed box? Whatever works best here and I am all about it. Do want my new box with a flat usuable top for amp mounting as well as storage for daily junk (motocross gear, hunting stuf etc etc)

Currently have my subs facing the rear cab wall which I deadened and braced. SOunds really really good for a pair of 10. WOuld I be better off selling them and getting a pair of 12 or would 4 10 be better? REally really want it to sound as accurate and tight as it is now. Have a fairly large area to work with. Thanks guys. Incredidble amount of knowledge on this site!

Well you said you like the sound but just want more of the same. no need to try some ported and sealed combo if you like what you have. If you can build your own enclosures i would pickup another 10w6 and build a 3 10 box and run that off your 1000. plenty of power for 3 10s. if its not what you want then could always add another. And for the most part a ported box will not be as tight and have the great Sq as ur sealed enclosure. I have one of my 12w6's in a ported box right now and hits low to low-mids very well but the upper portion is nothing to write home about. But i like the low end so i went ported for now =).

Satisfied? For every day music, yes. For making people go OMG when they ride with me, no. Of course worried about overpowering my highs and mids. Balance right now is mind blowing to me. Really does sound like a concert with no distortion. Just want a little more. Would most likey add another set of componets somewhere if I added more watts and subs.

The kicker is NO ONE close to me has a quality built ported enclosure for me to listen to. If I go through the trouble of building another box I would add two not just one. JUst fishing for ideas. Do yall know of any ported and sealed combos????

doing ported and sealed at the same time really won't work well. I'd run some nice woofers in a nice ported box, or there's nothing wrong with buying 2 more 10s and putting them in an identical sealed box as well, depending on coil configuration. If you would go from 1 ohm of final resistance to 2 ohms, that would kinda defeat the purpose of more cone area, but you could think about a second or bigger amp as well.

I suppose there would be some cancelation issues. May just build another box with four sealed chambers and add another 1000/1 to the mix. Gonna have to add some more front stage for that I would think.

5000 dollars later people will finally be somewhat impressed if you are using jl

Im doing 4dub7s sealed on 8 1000SLASH WUNZ. should bang, knock, beat, slap, punch, and hit really awesome. Ill ask the forum what to do but completely ignore them because I was hoping they would be impressed but really they are just mean.
