Sealed an Equalized Vs. Ported?

Was wondering....

Since equalizers are used to give you the frequency you want.....

Coud you use a Sealed sub along with an equalizer to get as loud as if you have used a ported enclosure?

This is why i ask

I want the 15" XXX. I also want my trunk space!. Planning on doin a fiberglass enclosure in my spare well with a false floor. I could get at least 2.8 vol out of it.

I also want ported, but i would have to settle for the 12"XXX, which i won't mind, but i'd PREFER if i could get the 15"

So do you think that if i had a 15" xxx sealed with a frequency, i can actually make it louder?

Or you think i should just go for the 12?

Just want to make sure!!!

Honestly, I wouldn't go that small. You could always try the 12 XXX if any of those sizes with that small of a box.

I would take the equalizer out of your question all together. You have the wrong idea on how it effects your musical reproduction. The xxx is a huge driver. If you are worried about space you may wan't to look into something a little smaller. What are you trying to achieve with your set up?

I wanter the 15" because mainly it will look better in my setup.

Also was thinking should i decide to F*** the trunk later on, would have built a large ported enclosure for it, even if it means takin up 3/5 of my trunk.

So wanted the 15" for the long run.

But you think 2.6-2.8 vol is enough for the 12" xxx ported?
