Scratched speaker diaphragm?

One of the speaker sets I have have 1 scratch on the diaphragm, and a very very small dent. How does this affect the speaker itself? They sound normal, but I'd like to know if these scratches will affect the speakers or not.

No pics but I can tell you that its a minor scratch on a metal cone.

on a tweeter, midbass, or sub?

because the only thing that could be effected really is a tweeter. if its dented it will disperse the sound differently, but it wont effect power handling or normal operation.

No, its on the woofer cone.

you should be fine then, as long as the dent does not cover a significant portion of the cone. scratches usually are nothing to worry about unless you realize it is very deep or turns into a gash.

get some good grilles for your speaker though to prevent any more damage.

Only if it's open where air can get through would it be a problem.

You can pull ductcap dents with a piece of tape.

A scratch or small dent that does not warp the overall cone shape in a metal cone on a woofer will do nothing to sound quality. Just appearance...
