SCION XD - DC XL 15s

def can't tell its one of your first builds....box looks great....these scions get loud....i had a boy demo his scion XD with 2 dd9518's in a DD box (which looked a lil on the small side to me, but i'm sure it was built to specs), he was breaking them in off of 1 sundown 4500...(i'm not sure how much power he was actually sendin them, but he was hittin 148's)....he said once they broke in, he was gonna run another SA4500....it was pretty dang loud, he broke a crossmember in his roof, so the flex was even worse than normal.....

here's a pic of the setup i was talkin bout....he was runnin the blue carbon fiber DD9518's

the port was firing where the driver's side rear door was....bad placement i would think....i told him he should try subs up port firing at the hatch, but with the box being from DD, he probably thought he had the best he could get

Dude idk man, red and blue wire used together is an eyesore for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I don't care for the electrical tape either, should have used shrink wrap. Sorry if I'm being nitpicky //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You should get rid of that Scoshe under the hood and replace it with the Knu, at the least.

It's okay. I understand.

I kept the scoshe under the hood and added new runs of Knu. The scoshe wire isnt bad, and I was too lazy to pull it out of the main grommet (would require me to remove my whole dash again). Not worth the removal in my opinion.

I ordered some shrink wrap and should be here in a few days (black). the electrical tape is serving a purpose till then. As for colors, I will go black on the speaker wire, but only had the 2 colors of RAS 8 gauge on hand. Tried to use all red, but came up short on cable length. I'm in no rush now, since everything is fairly tidy now. Will slowly get around to the finishing touches.

As for the red and blue of the power lines to the batteries, I think those will stay. I don't mind the colors, perhaps because I can't see them from where I sit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's alright, I'll redo those wires for you, just need your amazing skills to carpet somethings for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Haha

Having a problem with my setup.

Even with one layer of dynamat extreme on the roof of my car, turning up the volume causes violent thumping sounds. Like a guerrilla is punching my roof. I cant add another layer without some trouble reapplying my roof panel. Any other product on the market as thin as dynamat that might work better? No I don't want to add a layer of MDF to my roof...

Port firing forward makes sense. More room for the port to fire into the cabin. I bet it sounds good.

I thought I might have trouble with my port firing towards the rear, but it turned out to be perfect spacing and the way the rear hatch angles when closed just helps the air flow.

What did your friend do about the roof troubles? I'm having a bit of roof trouble too. with the rear hatch closed I can bounce my phone 3 ft in the air. That flex cant be good for the roof. Starting to see ripples in the metal on the edges of the main sheet of metal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i'm not too sure what he ever done about his roof, i just know it looked like paper flexing up there....lol.....and i've always heared that the port's loading off of the hatch works the best (his was firing to the side), not a good direction imo...

Flex is a b!tch to reduce in that degree. Going to have to absorb/reflect as much of that energy as you can. Reinforcement will be key. I suggest carpeted mdf in place of the headliner with nice amounts of deadener and expandable foam in between the mdf and the sheet metal. Roof's are no fun to work on.
