well there is a car show at school that is held about once every year (March 5th) and the kids at school think they kno car audio and what not and think that like kicker > all but anyway the guy that won last year has 2 12" JL W7's powered by 750 watts each in ported boxes for this year's comp and im wondering is my 15" XXX in a 4 cu ft. tuned to 30 hz powered by the pg tantrum goin to be able to beat this guy?

he is the favorite to win the whole thing and everyone thinks this guy is god but doesn't kno most likely who adire audio or resonant engineering is and no one has a clue what's goin on so i wanna win and show everyone other brands that smoke the big names like RE and PG instead of rockford fosgate, jl audio, and kicker (no offence to any of those companies, its just what the students know)

i got about $450 and originally i was goin to invest in a pg tantrum 1200.1 but i would like a sure win so im maybe thinkin of investing in another 15" XXX and the working for an Orion 2500D but thats big $$$ and cost time to get the money and I dont kno if I coulda got it by then but im wondering about your guys opinion on the matter

another drawback is that i want to be able to enjoy my system after the comp and me not always have to turn it down over and over again but if that wont be a problem with the 2 15's someone please tell me

if you guys could just help me out and kinda point me in a good direction on what i should do since you guys have expertise in systems and i trust caraudio.com more than the local shops around here haha thanks

First off if you got 2 XXX's you may need to just get a whole new electrical system. TRUST ME I KNOW! I just upgraded my battery and my big 3... and it STILL didnt help... now I gotta dump 250 into getting a new ALT... and I only have ONE XXX!

Now about your sub vs. his.... dude IT really REALLY depends.... If you know how loud he has been last year... then go to a shop get your self tested and see if your louder or not then what he was. My xxx has had NO issue in beating a w7.... but that was one.

remember ecko, you put your 15" xxx against a 10"w7, so he may have a big difference.

I would say that you should get a bigger amp, and possibly another xxx. If you wanted though you could build a big ol box tuned to like 5hz below your resonant freq and burp it there with your single xxx, then you may be louder, but on music, with only 1xxx and less power, I doubt you will be.

You could probably get 2 RE SX's to be louder than his W7's if you did a good install.

If you just want to win pick up some kicker L7's.

It really depends upon how it is judged. Is it actually metered? Or does the crowd vote based on how loud it is outside the vehicle? etc etc

Also, I wouldn't dump all that money into the stereo just for some one-time comp. If you upgrade to a 2nd 15" XXX, then the amp required to push them will require you to revamp your entire electrical system (alt, battery, etc). If you had wanted to do it anyways, then that'd be different. But it sounds like the only reason is for this one competition at your school....which isn't really a good reason to dump all that money into your system/car.

But, if you really want our help, and you are being tested on a meter, we could probably help you bump your score with your current equipment some by changing the box size and tuning hz.

like squeak said, if you just want to get loud as possible now, throw it in a fat huge box, tune it higher (just below resonant freq like said) and then give it power.

i dont see you beating 2 12" w7's @750watts with a single 15XXX.. but dont forget. i doubt he has 750 watts running to the w7s... if you think about it, who the hell spends that much? unless he is rich (looks like it) his amp is going to be overrated and he dosnt know WTF he is talking about anyway.

find out what size box(s) hes got, find out his equipment (amp, HU, car, and the rest of it all) find out how its jugded and give us ALL your existing equipment.

we cant help you if you have a freaking fiero. but it sounds like you got an SUV. so let us know exactally what we are dealing with.

yea guys i got a 96' Jeep Grand Cherokee but I'll give you guys the update on what he has when my friends find out about all that stuff but I told my friends about the 8 8's and they went crazy haha but only 4 8's so that seems like the way to go along with the 15" XXX but what do you power all those 8's with?

plus im goin to need all the prices on a new battery, alternator, etc.

re 8's are only like 50bucks

battery and alty run at least $200 I believe.

Wire, you can get on eBay.

MDF you can get at HD, along with everything else needed to build a huge *** fart box.

And again, how are you going to be judged? On a mic or by ear?
