I do want to change amps one day. But not for the sound, for the image factor. I'm almost certain a SQ judge will judge a car different when they see "SQ" amps and "SPL" amps.

And they have to see them because they have to inspect the install.

There's been a few times when I showed the amps after and the old school guy wouldn't except the fact not only are they not a SQ brand but they are class D. Rather expensive class D but none the less, class D.

I just realized the other day that my sundown sax 150.4 is a class D. Still sounds amazing. I think the class D arguement is a moot point with todays designs

It always has been a moot point. Amps where not crap because they where class D. They where just crap.

So if I finish the trunk I'm stuck with the amps I have.

I missed the guy to drop the box off for wrap today. So it got me thinking.

Should I do a amp swap now? Before it's to late?

They will either be mounted in a false floor in the trunk or behind the box with clean ran wiring.

Or on the front plate of the subwoofer trim.

Like the sub is in the center and the amps are vertical on each side trimmed out.

The Boston or Audison won't do the last one.

Some kick *** old NIB made in Italy Boston 2 and 4 channels. The 2 channel can bridge to 2ohm. I'm sure they will be beyond current hogs - $826

Audison AV5.1K, one of my dream amps and I can go full DA if I get the bit 10 -$1500

JL slash 300/4 and 600/1v3s - $1200

JL XD400/4 and 600/1 -$753

JL RD400/4 and 500/1. I really like the look of these, they would do really good in the install - $600

ARC XDi600.4 and 1100.1. Most power of the bunch. - $1078

The MS-8 doesnt show what it does. It builds the Harmon curve. It gives you 31 bands of mono EQ to work with if needed.

We are EQing for the only reason. To correct for the environment. Clown

Also how are you arguing sound quality with sound quality competitors if you have never done it and think songs should be painful?

I can't. Meds are to strong to be in the heat. But I know what my car does.

Again. Had a bit 1. Had to tune it. It had a win also.

Listen man, all jokes aside. At least listen to some good cars. Open minded. Really listen, don't just hear.

I can't explain how or why but swapping subs gained me 6 inches or so of stage depth.

I tuned after the sub and it sounded pretty good but no real change from the 8.

After it broke in a week I tuned it again and since it was playing better up top I raised the mids to 100hz.

Nothing I did should have gained depth. But it did and I'm not complaining. The passenger doors rattle is also gone.

The car sounds better then ever playing anything. Digs deeper, plays tighter. Image is more stable on the "sses". Most of the rainbow on the drivers side is gone. I haven't noticed it being under eye level and mirror height.

UAF gave me a kick *** price on finishing the trunk. Life is good.
