S10 cheap SG system

Dollas spent so far:

Kenwood HU (Crutchfield factory refurb) - $170 shipped

PPI Amp - $100 craigslist

amp plugs - $35

MB Quarts door speakers - $45

Box materials - $50

Door materials - $35

Wiring - Freebie leftovers

ID subs - $150 from whitedragon

Stinger in line fuse holder -$20 from Cartoys =(

Total - $605

That's phenomenal. I'd imagine it well over $1000 having a shop do that all for you.

And I'm also looking for some grille covers, and am a fan of that Kicker design... So is it a safe bet that most subs have the same drill pattern? In that, I can buy whatever grille and its a good chance it'll fit my subs?

So I have a question regarding the way I wired my subs up for the amp. The amp is a mono channel but has 2 speaker wire connections. I wired the subs each at 4 ohms. What is the amp seeing? Can I benefit anything by redoing the wiring?

Wire at 2 ohms. Each sub will see 250wrms. Tune properly so you dont blow them. The other set of speaker wire inputs is just to simplify wiring for you. I would only use one set and wire like this:

So I think it's time to upgrade my system. The subs sound good but fall short of what I want. Should I 1) rebuild the box and go ported or 2) step up to a single 12" and do a behind seat wedge box? It just doesn't have the deep bass I like and they run out of steam on up volumes. Ideas?
