runs of wire question

ok thanks so much, and heres my last question. Say i wanted to do two runs of 1/0, i would have two runs going from Battery1 + to battery 2+ and then two runs going from battery 1 - to battery 2 -, (would i need two runs for the negative?) and then also would i have to use two runs of the 1/0 to go from + and - on battery2 to go to the amp?

The negative wire will need to be the same size as the positive wire. 2 positive wires means you need 2 negative wires of the same size. 2 wires for the pos and neg between the batteries may be overkill... it's hard to say without knowing what you're doing.

I don't think you would need 2 runs from the 2nd battery to the amp. I'm not certain of ampacity rating of 1/0 wire, but mine came with a 250 amp fuse. You would have to have a really huge amp to need more than one run of 1/0 into the amplifier.

ok thanks so much for everyone who helped me. i believe i know what im doing now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif im going to run the wire how it is in the first picture i drew, add a fuse from battery2 + to amp +. The reason why i asked is because i plan on getting a amp that does around 3000-4000 watts, but just wanted to have my electrical upgraded first.

The first pic looks fine to me, including the fuse locations. I would ground the amp to the second battery. You may want to fuse the + wire from the 2'nd battery to the amp.
x2 ^ , 1/0 wire will do for about 300 amps on a 20 ft. run. If you only use about 3000 watts you should be fine with one run. (depending on the amps eff.) I personally like to go + to + and - to - but it gets expensive with multiple runs. You can just ground to the chassis and upgrade stock ground with same size wire. If you end up with 2 1/0 grounds to chassis in rear, you need 2 up front also. Don't forget the big 3!

you should equal amount of wire for pos and neg. also a chasis ground is really not needed. just bring the amps ground right to the battery and then bring the alternator ground right to the battery
