Constant Speaker Static

I bought a Pioneer DEH-P4000UB and a set of Polk DB651 (6 1/2") and Polk DB691 (6x9") speakers. I had these installed by Fry's Electronics in a 98' Dodge Intrepid. Now, theres a constant static coming from the speakers, not to loud but definitely loud enough to notice if nothing is playing. The Fry's install people told me this was normal but I'm kind of doubting it. The static comes no matter what, any source (cd, radio, aux), any volume, any combination of settings on the deck. Everyone I've talked to says that this isn't normal and that they should fix it. Now instead of waiting for them to fix something I don't even know if they can fix I was wondering if anyone would have any recommendations on what it could be. I've called pioneer and the rep told me that most likely it was miswiring because of the stock amp that the speakers have to run through. Another person told me it was miswiring to the deck, and another person told me that most likely they did not ground it correctly, that more than likely they just attached the ground and did not wipe it off to give it a clean connection to ground it. So instead of trying to go through all three of these blindly I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on to which one it would most likely be?

If you need any other information just ask, any response is appreciated.

It could be either of the 2 problems you mentioned. Whoever told you that it is normal to have static is full of it. That is not normal. More than likely the speaker wiring is wrong in there somewhere. I would check the connections behind the head unit first, if you have the know how to do this sort of stuff. If not take it to someone who does. The ground should be easy to check, it shouldn't be grounded to far from the unit. Start there and work your way through.

Appreciate the response, I don't know how to do this stuff myself but I have a couple friends who do. The only thing is I feel jipped by Fry's since I paid for the installation and they installed it wrong. I have an appointment on Friday to have them try and fix it. If they can't I think ill try to pursue a refund since they didn't install it correctly.
