room stereo

How big is it? I am planning dual MTMs and dual 12s. Running ~80w to the MTMs and ~250w to each sub. My room is 16*26 but my listen area is much smaller. I don't think too much is required to good sound in a room.

If this is going in a dorm room or bedroom, and you feel comfortable building an enclosure, here is my suggestion for a cheap and reliable sub that will do the job for you:

With this amp:

Make the box 1.25 cu. ft. and tune it to 26 hz to get the most from the 70 watts from the amp. I have built this same box for my nephew and it sounds really good in his bedroom. Is it the loudest or cleanest? No, but for $75 plus materials it sounds awesome.

Use the receiver that flipx suggested and maybe a set of the Insignia bookshelf speakers that Best Buy puts on sale about every month and you got a decent budget system. And if you want to get crazy there are all kinds of mods out there for the Insignia's.

Wait a second. Are you only running a single mid-range speaker for everything that the sub isn't going to run?
That was his plan. I think he has decided against it now.

Not a bad rack amp especially if you want two subs:

So..here is what you are looking at:

Reciever : $199

Subs: $90 for the AA Aresenals = $180

Sub Amp : $179

Speakers: $80 x 2 (for two way) or $170 x 2 (for MTM) [AA Arbiter series...I would reccomend getting all subs/speakers same brand as I heard it is easier to match tonal qualities]

totals: $718 or $898

for some reason...that's not very budget oriented...

I was gunne get one speaker and one sub, but now im going to get a 2-channel reciever, 2 6inch drivers, a sub, and a plate amp
Unless you have a FULL RANGE 6" driver, you need a tweeter and a crossover. If you don't it is going to sound like utter crap. I would suggest looking around on the showcase of partsexpress.com and finding something you like and just build that. Since it appears you really don't have a clue what your getting into it will be less of a headache to build something that plans for the enclosure and crossover already exist for.

I would have to agree on that....

ha you want cheap and loud...go my route....$40 on a Kenwood VR-305 receiver off ebay....2 sets of floor speakers 1 set onkyo S-31..with 12"s and some mids and highs and some other big *** ones each $20 a pair at two seperate garage sales...$80 spent total..no need for a sub and it gets loud enough to be painful in my dorm

Good suggestions...much better than my budget system suggestion...I gotta find a way to trim some fat now... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
