Who has a little music setup in their house that is not technically home audio?

i want pictures

Use it for a car, n00b or sell it and buy a PSU that will power amps forever and never have to be recharged. I can snap pics of my house system when I get back to Lubbock. I'll show ya how its done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I hate seeing all these ghetto setups, including those that use computer power supplies. Car audio equipment belongs in the car, that's what it's designed for. If you want to run an amplified system in your home, buy amplifiers designed for that purpose. This reminds me of my father telling me about how when he was a kid all the cool kids just took home theater speaker cabinets and put them in their trunk and ran those as their "system." Some things never change...

yeah, you could do that, but there really isn't too much of a point if your power supply can dish out enough power. The battery will only act as a buffer in case your amp draws too much power. Car batts are meant to take a constant charge because thats what alternators do so it would be okay. you can find 1000w PSU's on the web for around 50 bucks so i would just use that. I run an ED Nine.1 off of a PSU and it works very well. I have all of my satellites running off of a crunch 1100.2 with LED strips under the entertainment center for added win. it gets stupid loud and the PSU is much more stealth than a batt.

now i have a pioneer elite AVR, 5.2 surround with shiva 12's on dayton amps. it does aight.

you can spend as much money as you want on nice home audio equipment and it will be cool, but as far as budget power, this is BY FAR the best option.

lulz. i did this cause i wanted some music while i gutted my room. ill get some home theatre amps in here and take another picture for you :/

It's also very inefficient and a fire hazard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i have a battery charger that i wanted to hook up while the music plays. wont blow anything, right?

Well just use your head...think about HOW it would blow your equipment, the first thing that comes to mind is the voltage, what is the output voltage of your charger?

no, wont blow anything, but most batt chargers will trip if the current within the circuit changes... it will charge while the batt shows a constant voltage, but when the bass hits, it will shut off.

fire hazard if you have a ton of wires hanging out everywhere... otherwise there is no way really. too much amp draw causes the PSU to shut off, not burn. It wont even blow the fuse. There is still a fuse in the event that the circuit closes in an imperfect manner due to heat buildup in the case of unsoldering and resoldering connections.. but then there is a big fat fan that keeps it cool also. inefficiency is the only downside but then again, you make up for it in the money saved with the initial investment. youre looking at around 60 bucks to run a 1000 watt audio system in a house. what does that cost in home audio?
