no, wont blow anything, but most batt chargers will trip if the current within the circuit changes... it will charge while the batt shows a constant voltage, but when the bass hits, it will shut off.
fire hazard if you have a ton of wires hanging out everywhere... otherwise there is no way really. too much amp draw causes the PSU to shut off, not burn. It wont even blow the fuse. There is still a fuse in the event that the circuit closes in an imperfect manner due to heat buildup in the case of unsoldering and resoldering connections.. but then there is a big fat fan that keeps it cool also. inefficiency is the only downside but then again, you make up for it in the money saved with the initial investment. youre looking at around 60 bucks to run a 1000 watt audio system in a house. what does that cost in home audio?

He already has it obviously. it's in the picture. even with amp cost though, it would probably still come out cheaper. Not fightin' with ya bubba, just don't think it is quite as retarded as you believe it to be. I can see maybe if he used he setup for a long period of time, then sure the higher electric bill could eventually offset the initial cost but he also stated that it wont be used for a long period of time so i see no problem.

also, how much more inefficient is a PSU set up than an home audio setup with equal power output? it seems like you would have to have a similar input if you want an equal output when it comes to circuitry. they both have a 120v input so amperage input would have to be equal to get the same power output.

Not when your converting between different types of electricity, there's always a loss. Your PSU converts from AC to DC which your amplifier then converts back into AC. You have a loss of at least 20% every time (Good PSU's are rated at 80+ efficiency and class D amps are 80% at best) Home audio amplifiers have the advantage of starting with AC.

ahh, didn't think about that. yeah it is going from AC to DC then back to AC throughout the whole system so I could see how cutting out the DC middleman would help in efficiency.
