Rookie Questions

I am ready for a system in my wifes 2003 Navigator. Right now, there are stock 6.5 components in the front, Im assuming 6.5 coaxials in the rear (havent checked yet). I did just install a JL 500/1 and a W7 10 in a JL HO box I had in the basement. It bumps pretty good, but the mids and highs dont hold up. Also, the box is HUGE. I need something smaller because my wife cant get my kids in there with the box. Also, I am using the stock HU because it has GPS and controls DVD system. Here are my questions.....

Should I just get rid of the W7 and get a new sub with a smaller box, or should I put the W7 in a smaller box? will the 500/1 be enough for a good 15" ? Any suggestions on comps for the front and an amp set up? At what point do I need to be concerned about power. I use to run a yellow top and a capacitor, but dont have those anymore. I dont seem to have a problem now, but another amp for comps , I might.

I am definitely a rookie and dont have alot of cash for this. Have to go piece by piece. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ummm... I believe the average 15" would like a larger box.

How big is the current box? a 10" shouldn't need THAT much cubeage.

Budget for comp amp and speakers? Willing to buy used or only new?

Here are the dimensions. Big for a 10" box. Id say I could spend a round 500$ or so on a mid set up. I dont mind used. Thanks for the help.

WOW that box is big for a single 10"... $500 will get u one heck of a nice front stage.

you cant find your kids in a navi with the box? thats strange. i fit both my kids in carseats, with my wife in the car in my hatch, and your having trouble doing it in a decent sized SUV. get rid of the w7 altogether
