Almost all albums are better musicallly from the 80's/early 90's than now. they use to record with a larger dynamic range. thats why things are quieter.
i know all about the whole compression (radio friendly) thing , i mean it sounds superior to earlier albums and later albums. listen to the double bass kicks on there then listen to some on any other metallica album. its like the bass drum is in the room.

Yea, I listened to Avenged Sevenfold - Critical Acclaim and Atreyu - Becoming the Bull. Both sound great with my 12's

I'm a huge Justin Foley fan from Killswitch Engage, but I'm telling you guys, Slayer's drummer, while good in his own right (sorry I stepped on some toes) is a good drummer, he has NOTHING on Andols Herrick from Chimaira. You have to SEE him play to understand what I mean and he's one of my top five favs, which is why I had the statement about Foley.
