RMS what happens

not getting the full potential of it, thats all
POSSIBLY not acheiving full performance.

It is 100% possible to power a sub to full potential with much less than RMS power......as it depends on the enclosure. Not to mention, there is not standard for rating RMS. Some rate it as simply thermal power handling. Some rate it as an "average" power level in most boxes. Etc etc. Which also makes it very hard to determine how much power is needed in a given application to achieve full performance.

it clips it, sends some crazy signals. next thing you know your wearing a black dew rag, black dress (shirt) and your white... not to mention someone sticks the picture in your avatar

how embarrasing

rms is the root mean square value of the wattage you will send to the sub.. in other words the industry tries to give an "average" power it will take.. the power will peak at certain points in a song.. if you go below the rms value.. nothing bad will happen besides not reaching its full potential.. if your sub is 1000 watts rms.. at 800 watts, potential doesn't mean that much.. thats still pretty **** loud...
