rms watts on your speakers

i am just wondering if you can give me ideas on how much to push to door speakers

if you can tell me what speakers you are running and how many rms watts over what recommend and how it sounds at full volume if any distortion or no, and also what amp u have pushing them

thanks

so if i go with infinty componets that are rated 90rms a piece and but a kicker 350.4 to them and put 90 rms to each speaker that will be plently loud enough and not blow the speakers

or i was thinking of going with a hifonics amp that pushes 170rms to each speaker will that blow them even though i think 170 is overrated from what i heard

thanks

The determining factor is going to be how you have the gains set and how loud you turn it up. You could run 1wrms speakers off a 10kW rms amp and not blow them if you never turn it up. The power coming from the amp is proportional to the volume knob on the HU. In other words, an amp only puts out full rated power when the voltage of the signal from the HU (which is directly controlled by the volume control) reaches the voltage required by the amp for full power based on the current gain setting. If the gain control is set such that the amp needs a 5V signal to make full power and the HU can only send 4v at full volume, the amp will never make full power.

ok well for my budget the infintys work for me and i heard alot of good things bout them so thats what i am going with

and kicker amp over hifonics just bc its kicker and looks better than hifonics amp also will have 2 12's l7 with 1500 kicker amp

but i will prob turn my volume up all the way so how would i set everything on my amp for the doors i only want them for highs

thanks

infinity's always lack mid-bass. i had a set of their top of the line comps(perfect 6.1's) and i hated them. when i first bought them i liked them but then i realized i had no mid-bass at all. if your looking for comps go with the phoenix gold rsd's. if your looking for coaxial's then look at the pioneer rev series. they are much much better for the money.

what is your budget for the set of speakers?

well i mean i will have 2 12's l7's and a 1500 kicker amp for bass
ok but if you don't have a set of speakers up front that don't have good mid-bass and midrange then you will be missing a lot of important material. from my experience the only thing worthwhile that Infinity makes is their home audio speakers. their car audio speakers have always lacked mid-bass big time. i would strongly suggest either Phoenix Gold rsd comps or pioneer revs if you are looking for cheap comps. i have the rsd's and the mid-bass is insane. you will definitely thank me later. take my advice, infinity for comps or coax's is a no no. even the highs are not perfect, they can get very harsh.

audiosaving.com or ebay for the PG RSD comps. they are $87 with shipping included. you won't believe you are listening to $90 speakers after you hear them properly installed off of a good 100 watts or more.

they sound like they should cost a few hundred dollars. the mid-bass is insane, and the mid-range is good, and the highs are very crisp and detailed, not one bit harsh.

as long as your amp can do a good 80 watts or more per channel at 4 ohms i'd say go for it. if you can bridge your amp and send all the power to the set they will sound sick. i have 150 watts rms per side and i don't even run rear speakers. i have my rsd set and my ten inch sub. it gets crazy loud and sounds awesome.
