Rewired setup

ok well i reset the gain to 12 even still smelled although it took a little longer. i now have it set at 10.5 and still getting the same results.

also it appears that the smell is stronger closer to the amp. Time for a new amp??

ok well i disconnected everything from the amp and sub and did not see any evidence of burn.

as an afterthought i checked the fuses at the amp (2x30) and they are completely fried.

Shouldn't an amp turn off when the fuses short out? since i assume it should i definitely need a new amp.

any recommendations on something under 1000w? the cheaper the better....for now anyway.

the fuses were brand new out of the box when i started to set the gains with the dmm.

I can replace fuses all day they are cheap...my concern is that shouldn't the amp stop working with 2 blown fuses. Mine never quit working...no protection light, full power just like it was fresh off the shelf.

yeah that is what i thought.

as for the budget apparently its not what i thought it was. have to wait on the speaker and will need to trade off some stuff to get an amp.

apparently we are buying my sister in law's wedding dress. so there goes $2000+
