Rewired setup

ok so i have recently installed my setup into my new car. i have been doing this stuff to my cars (thank goodness no one else's) for years and apparently the entire time have been doing it wrong. Having said that i want to run this by everyone to make sure my current setup is correct

1. 4awg wired from battery under hood to the amp (kx600.1) in the trunk -- fused 12" from the battery with an 80amp fuse

2. 4awg wired from a spot i bared the metal in the trunk to the amp -- wire length ~18"

3. Infinity Reference 1242W wired to (what i believe to be) 2 ohm which means wired + of each VC to each other then the - of each VC wired to each other then + of VC to amp and - of 2nd VC to amp

all speaker wire is 12awg

i currently do not have the remote wire attached because i don't want to start running the amp until i can get my dmm on it to set the gains correctly (didn't know i needed to do that until this week).

Also this amp has a subsonic filter --- should that be turned on or off?

it all seems good to me, as long as your sub is a d4 you should see a 2 ohm read with that wiring. as for the subsonic filter, what is your box tuned to?

d4? do you mean dual 4 ohm VCs? if that is what you are referring to then yes they definitely are. sorry i dont know all the lingo yet haha

As far as the box goes -- this is where the majority of my shame resides....its a prefab. i needed a box in a hurry a few years ago and was able to pick it up at one of those warehouse expo mart things. its actually built for 2 12" sealed.

this box will probably be the first thing to go as i tweak my setup since i never realized how much difference the box makes.

yes you have d4 coils (dual 4), and if you are running sealed, you really dont need a subsonic filter as the box itself ristricts the sub from moving to much, however, when you go ported, just make sure your subsonic filter doesnt go to far below the tuning of your box.for an example if you tune your box to 33 hertz set the filter to about 25, somewhere around there. but yeah man your doing decent for yourself.

sorry i meant subwoofer. as far as the sub goes i am looking for something with a good split between SQ and SPL and an amp to go with it that will run properly on the 4awg power and ground i already have installed.

well as far as budget goes i am not sure yet. it will depend on what i can find in my area. i like to find people that dont know what they have on craigslist then trade something i have that they want. you would be amazed at what really good stuff people will trade away when they are getting something they need, even if what they are getting is worth less than what they are giving up.

WOW 2000watts? i dont want to run anything close to that right now. max 1000w until i replace all the stock speakers.
