Alright, so I went a head and purchased a used Q off of the classifieds a couple weeks ago.
I put it in a sealed enclosure at 2.67 Cuft. Pumped it with Approx 1300 watts from an aq2200D @ 2 ohm.
Having ran two JL w6v2's off of a jl 1000/1v2 for awhile in the past, I have to say that the Q seems nearly as audibly loud as the W6v2's. At some lower frequency's I believe the w6v2's outmatched the Q based on the sheer fact that there were two of them. But honestly for the price of two w6v2's, along with the space requirements of two subs, the Q outweighs.
Furthermore, it sounds fantastic. Now, compared to my two HDC3 setup in my sig, the Q does indeed have better SQ. But this is only really noticeable in my opinion when I would really crank the HDC3's. That's right: it's not a "shit my pants" amount better. Could it be that I'm not super SQ oriented? Possibly. Now, obviously the HDC3 setup was a helluva-lot louder than this single Q.
To sum it up: Most people coming from best buyish setups, not looking to compete but put a good thump in their daily driver and on a small budget would find a single 15 inch Q surprisingly good. I'm sure one could expect a noticeable further gain if the Q was ported.
Overall: For 230 dollars used, amazing bang for the buck - can't go wrong.
NEXT TIME: Drop in comparason vs a single 15 XCON on the same power/car.
P.S.: Sub was located in backseat. Depending on vehicle tendency to block bass from trunk, you're experience with this subwoofer may vary.
