Removable wall in sedan

Well what if I just did a ported enclosure with an external aeroport through the deck? I would like to do a band pass but i don't have the tuning equipment

You still have the energy from the subs having to get out of the trunk losing output and risking being out of phase by some noticeable degree from the port.

My trunk has a solid amount so sdsd cld and mlv all around on bottom and lid

The point is how much stuff is between the trunk and the cabin (seats/metal/panels/etc.)?
So what would be the best option, I have a back seat that I never noticed rattle from. But my speaker pods on the rear deck are made of cheap plastic and they rattle a bit, I put CCf on the bottom of them but they don't bolt down well

Have you ever heard two 15s in a trunk? Cut a little metal on the back deck if necessary. Turn the entire trunk into a box. 1 or 2k on two 15s in a sedan is pretty dang loud.

Im actually doing two big 18s walled in an 02 mustang. They were correct when they said its a commitment plus its a lot of planning and work. Not to mention the weight it will put on a suspension, and thats more money gone to compensate. Honestly if you arent wanting to make it a literal car audio project I probably wouldnt recommend a wall. Thats just my opinion though

Total weight of birch wouldnt be too bad though expensive.

I have always wondered though. The machine used to do large fiberglass projects. It spits out resin, mekp and fiberglass at the same time. Covers large areas. Always thought someone should do the entire inside of a trunk on all walls like that and make the trunk opening the baffle.

It would be pretty genius, I bet it would be completely unique as well.

As tempting as this is, I think my car is pretty nice and I wouldn't want to make my first spl build innit.. maybe if I get into a house with a garage I'll go further in. I don't really even want to build an enclosure in my trunk for the simple fact that I don't want to have to saw it out when I sell the car and make a huge mess. How can I do that cleanly? Because you do have me thinking about possibly doing a high end SSA or FI 18

An 18 in a trunk just isnt going to happen. You might be able to get away with 15s with a small amount of trunk opening (into cabin) cutting. Could most likely get 12s in there. If you don't want a mess. Cover everything on the inside of the trunk with paint catcher. Its just a big plastic sheet painters use. Then build the box. When you cut it out. You wont have saw dust in the carpet and such.

You should be aware that a serious spl rig shakes itself apart though. You'll start getting rattles everywhere and bolts unscrewing themselves. You'll want to either pull all the panels and drive like that or start using ccf and other things between panels.

I'm not intending to hit 160s, and i planned on a ridiculous amount of deadening anyways.. I just want to get stupid low.if I were to build in trunk you don't think I could pull off an 18? I was thinking maybe 2 Q 15s or 2 icon 15s.. if I'm going big I'm gonna have to do a good bit of deadening and get an extra batt so I'd rather stick with 3.5k as long as I can. I know I could pull 2 12s because I had a ZCON enclosure built by cscstang that was 6.5 ext and it cleanly slid in and out of my trunk. I'm not sure on exact dimensions though which is kinda sucky on my part. But I figured 6 external cubes, if I did an external aeroport and sub firing up, I could pull at least 5.5 net volume doing the same enclosure. I would just need to brace it well. I just don't want to spend more than 700 on subs.

The way I see it. The trunk should be for the box and whatever the size of your opening from your trunk to your cabin is the max size of your sub.

3.5k is a lot on stock alternator. Id focus on that

I have 300a singer alt and 2 agm a, big 3 and all. Upgrading to big 5 and another two runs of 0awg to the trunk when I find a nice deal on some wire. And my seats don't fold down, that is a major issue I'm assuming.. I don't really intend on taking the seats out permanently either.

I'd like to remain as stock as I can, other than electrical and suspension. Getting new coil overs eventually. whats the best you think I can do with 5.5 ft of internal enclosure space? I could run multiple short 4-6 inch aeroports instead of slot ports. I know I could fit an 18 in that, the box was like 14" h x 32" w and like 40ish d. Just measured the width by the marks on the plastic trim on my trunk and I remember it being just under 15" which is why he fired up. Not sure on depth, adding it up to figure it out now

You're seats dont fold down? Yikes. You might have to look into the back deck and what you can fit into that. Perhaps a box in the trunk. Sub and port firing up through the back deck. Still. That'd involve cutting enough metal to fit the port(id go port inverted) and then sealing the front of the sub and the port from the trunk. Getting loud in a trunk is hard. Doing it without seats folding down is imho a waste of time.

Basically, build the box in the trunk. Face the sub and port towards the back deck. deaden the back deck completely. Cut a hole the same size as the sub directly above the sub. Fiberglass between the back deck and the sub baffle. Do the same thing for the inverted port. Seal everything off from the trunk
