relay questions

so i am gonna put my kc lights on my truck and wire it up with the supplied harness and switch, what i want to be able to do it have full function of the switch but also be able to turn the lights on and off with my aux on my alarm. i know i need a relay but i am **** at wiring them up for shit like this. anyone wanna tell me how??i know i have to do it off of the green wire. and i am gonna hook the 12v or ignition to 12v so i can use them whenever. here is a diagram from KC for the lights.

well i am thinking it is just like a trunk input right? use a relay and attach onto the green wire which is a +

Im guessing the ouput you want to use is going to be negative trigger. In that case you will need the relay to switch it to positive polarity and than you should be able to jumper it on the existing relay where the green wire goes.

That way your alarm and the switch will both trigger the included relay.

yeah thats what i was thinking but wanted to a second opinion before i go out in the cold and fiddle around looking for ends for the relay and farting around wiring one up.

Yes that is correct. Make sure it is also fused from the 12v source.

ok so i got it hooked up and it worked, but it only works for a second because it is just a pulsed wire and i dont think you can change channel 2's setting on a dei even with a bitwriter. so i went to the 12volt.com and found this http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#mtc do i have to do Latched On/Off Output Using a Single Momentary Pulse?

that diagram doesnt really make sense. I dont see how its switching it.... maybe its been to long since Digi Electronics class

the light green would be the input. i can do it with 1 relay using another output like output 4 but then i have to do lock and aux for it to work. and that is a pain to hold 2 down. and i dont use anything for the trunk as i dont have a trunk in my truck.

IIRC channel 2 can only be used as a validity input. You have to use channel four and change the programming to latched I believe.

And you can change the buttons used on the remotes for the chanels but I dont remember how exactly.
