I'm redoing my sound system in my 94 Cadillac Fleetwood. I listen to mostly Rap and R&B. Currently, the only piece in my current system I think I am keeping is a 1300 watt Memphis Belle Hybrid Amp. It outputs 75x4 and 1000x1. The whole car is lined with brownbread and dynamat extreme.
I am a SQ guy, esp with mids and highs but less so with bass. Sometimes i just like the booms and I'm not sure I can get great SQ out of subwoofers through the thick rear seats and trunk of the caddy anyway.
Right now i'm thinking of doing either 5.25 or 6.5 Focal K2Ps in the front and 2 sealed Memphis M3s 12 or 15 inch subs in the back. I currently have Memphis Power Reference 6x9s in the rear which I may scrap altogether.
I'm looking for opinions on product alternatives in the same approximate price range.
I'm also wondering if I should mod the 5.25 opening to fit a 6.5 in the front and scrap the rear 6x9s completely. Or should I keep the 5.25 and keep the rear 6x9s (or get new 6x9s?). Keep in mind, the cabin in the Fleetwood is LARGE.
Also, is it safe to buy Subwoofers used on Ebay in general? I know SPL guys drive their subs at extremely high volumes for long periods of time. Will the SQ of the sub suffer after the abuse?
