Recone for TC 5200

I have an 18" TC 5200 and it works just fine, however, one of the spiders came off from the spider and there is a hole in the spider. There are also some marks on the coil, not sure if its coil rub or what exactly since I dont hear any coil rub. The driver still functions just fine and I've been using it in its condition for several months now, but I would like to have a sub with no flaws, I guess I'm just picky like that.

I was wondering who can recone the sub or perhaps get me a new top assembly to match the adapter I have. I might even be interested in another driver, but of course, I'd prefer to go the route that saves the most money. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you mean tinsel leads? They were notorious for tinsel leads ripping from the spider. I dont know how many times I told them to stop production on it because of that exact issue, but they wanted to be cheap and use parts off the shelf designed for other drivers instead of investing in the correct parts.

If I were you, id wait till it dies completely before worring about it. Id get some IC-2000 CA glue and some Instaset from Bob Smith Industries (order from Hobbylinc) and just fix the issues with the spider.

Dave at team PSI might have parts for you, or maybe even Tim Roy who primiarily hangs out at termpro.

I've heard a bit about Tim Roy, and yes I meant the tinsel leads...still trying to wake up. I have to pull out the driver to take a picture of what the coil looks like, unless its in my photobucket...i'm just hoping it's not an issue.

Found the picture...Here is one side of the coil (you can see some slight marks that are the same as the other side of the coil)

And the other.

I hear no coil rub and the sub seems to move fine. Is it something that I should be worried about?

thats definately an issue
lol i was scrolling down to see the pics and said they same thing to myself.

OP, we have a saying at my shop "run that bish heavy"

I'd order a recone couse i doubt that will last to much longer.

have not put a DMM on it yet, but i plan to do so. I thought I did before and all coils matched, but I'll be doing it again to verify. Before I bring this driver to its death, I want to make sure I find someone who can recone it first. I really want to use TC parts so that it remains a 5200. I don't want to sacrifice the SQ I currently have.

i belive i saw someone on here with the upper parts of a 5200. i'll have to look around for it. i have a motor without a home, but i don't know if it would work for it. let me look around for it again.
