Recommend me a 6.5 mid that is great with metal rock music

Looking to spend around 300$
Right now I have hsk165xl and they sound "ok" to me, but they do not seem to be as crisp or as clear as I would like to be. It also sounds as if the singer has there hand in front of there face, I gone through tuning and double checking everything, still can't get it right.

Thanks
A good friend of mine kept having the same response from his set of hsk 165s with double sided deadening/sealing his doors off, and ended up building external sealed pods on a Gladden 250c4 for them, and they sounded bad azz.He still wanted more so he endeded up with the MLK3 series and had the mids in pods on the dash and the other set of tweets.Sounded absolutely amazing man.Its got to be your speaker direction/set up,a good possibility your amp as well? Those speakers are the best Ive heard to date.I think they sound better than alot of other expensive set ups.The pods were made out of 1/2 mdf,and he used a dash matt also.Highly into SQ/SQL.That truck was SEALED. when you closed the door, you could tell you were in a sealed environment. Those speakers like good clean power

High l 35 high r 30Mid l 43 mid r 42

Sub 160

the ta is probably way off I don't know
how are u measuring ur TA, u may want to try to make ur furthest driver (not sub) at 0, u take the distance from the furthest driver and minus it from the others example, if ur furthest driver (say Mid Right) is 60" away and ur closest is 36" (High Left) away, u will minus the 60 from 36 and get 24" be ur TA and so forth with Hi Right and Mid Left, sub will be 0, try that and see if it does anything

Yes they are real bought from dealer, thanks for all the responses back. I keep reading and trying new things, and just can't get it right. I'm getting frustrated real quick, been at this problem for a while.
I do also wonder about resonating in the doors.

5k is way too high to play a 6.5" mid when you have any good 1" tweeter. An exception to this is if you measure the response in the car and determine that is, in fact, your ideal mid/tweeter crossover frequency and slope, but it doesn't make sense based on theory. The woofer will begin beaming under 2 kHz, which means with your typical door mounting facing the woofers away from your ears that response is beginning to drop above ~2 kHz. A dip in the midrange, which would be more pronounced on the side you sit close to, could possibly cause the issue you're hearing. I suggest you try changing the woofer lowpass and the tweeter highpass to roughly 2.5 kHz - 3 kHz and listen for a few days.

Do these speakers sound better with the passive crossovers? Have you done that comparison?

I have not tried them with the passive crossovers.

It does sound a little better with crossovers set at 2.5k but it's still muffled, using the auto TA setting just raises the muffled sound higher up.

If we assume the speakers are not the problem then you must make measurements in the vehicle. The ultimate factor in what we hear with audio reproduction is frequency response. Polarity, phase, EQ, time alignment, cone or dome material and structure, amp gains, sound deadening, reflections, etc. all affect frequency response. I recommend you have someone with more experience with these speakers to listen to your vehicle. A Hertz dealer should know what to expect from the speakers you bought. If diagnosis is required they will probably start from the step 1, your wiring, and go through gain setting and such, which means billable hours. Let them do their job to help you.

Idk if I isolate just the mids, they sound very unclear and they don't sound smooth or clean, you can't just TA the mids right? I thought I did a good job on the door install maybe I have to do more.
