Recapping crossovers; Can I replace VNP caps with VDC?

SPLC Fails
I know this isn't directly car audio related as the crossovers are from my home speakers, but lets just say I'm using them for my comps. The crossovers need to be recapped, and they include VNP and VDC caps. Should I replace the non-polarized caps with non-polarized caps, or can I substitute them with VDC caps? I would assume they are not interchangeable, but I would like to make sure before I end up making a mistake.
