alright so before i busted my alternator i had this as my set up, re mx15 powered by an arc audio 2500cxl, 4 g wire from the battery and ground, and i had a rf 1 farad cap, before my alty busted my shit was knoooocccckkkin, setting off alarms from across the parking lot, but after i put in a new alternator only thing i changed was replacing my cap with an extra battery, a sprinter s12v285f i believe, and now my electrical is fine no dimming lights at all no lights poppin up on the dash for split seconds, but my shit aint as loud, my trunk barely wants to rattle, anybody know what i did wrong or how i can fix this? im positive i wired everything right i have my sub wired down to 4 ohms sending it 1050 rms and im sure this isnt what im getting. could i need a better ground since im grounding a battery back there now instead of a cap?

this is how i have it set up, could it be my ground to the battery is to long? or the ground from the aux batt to the car is bad? i have it grounded to the body.

i did move my sub box just a little bit forward should i push it back to the normal spot? its only a few inches as you said but i could see it in my sub, it doesnt flex like it was before, i checked all the wires even went out and bought new speaker wires cause i thought the ones i had were small and yeah, im thinkin about making my ground to the aux battery shorter cause before i had it to the cap only like 8-10 inches of 4g.

do you guys think the c&d tech batteries are better than these? im not sure the model number on it but it was somethin with a 300m on it, if so i can swap this batt with that one.

check the battery with a dmm and see where your at. check it at idle and check it with your system on. if its fine then you can try to shorten your ground wires but i doubt that will help. did you check your head unit? i know some one that changed his front battery and had a hard time seting his head unit.

i just checked everything u guys said to besides the last guy, but ive noticed when my volume is on 5 or 6 my bass sounds real nice and hard and crisp, i usually ride with it at 30, i think my deck maxes at 45 or 50. but when i turn it up to say 10 on a song with a lot of bass i can hear a small knocking noise comin for my sub maybe like 2 to 3 knocks per second, i checked the wires behind my hu everythings wired right. even pushed sub box back same thing checked the eq on my hu and its fine. this sucks donkey dick man. lol.

its ported, thats another thing i thought it could be i have multiple little holes all around the box from screwing all kinds of shizznit to it, could that be a possibility? i was thinking bout sealing all the holes with some epoxy, think thatll work? and thanks everybody for their input.

you can try to seal the little holes it will only cost you a few bucks. for peace of mind give it a try i do think it will not fix your issue. please check your extra battery, you have to look at it this way if all you did was take a power cap out and put a battery in its place it should only help. i would look at that battery you put in, it wont hurt to have your local auto store to check your alt . i think there is somthing you might of changed or messed up by mistake. just go over everything and keep note of what you do so u can put it all back. good luck

i think i found the problem, at least what im hoping it is, i looked under the hood today and the fuse was popped but im positive i checked this when i first had suspicions, so imma grab an anl fuse holder for the front also, before i had a reg tube fuse. i was planin on changin it but never got to it forgot all bout it. im hopin this is it, it really sounds like the batt cant keep up with the amp like the first punch will be nice hard and crisp but after that it sounds ugly and distorted so im hopin this was it.
