There are still some old guys like me around that still deal with this stuff everyday.... my advice, find a good specialty shop with a good older dude that knows his stuff. The new breed of on-line companies are OK at best. There is little to no R&D from them unlike people like JL, MTX, Kicker etc. This is due to the fact that most of the net companies have no manufacturing ability, no r&d team, no tech division... they have their products built by someone else with parts out of a catalog. So do they work, yes, are they the same, no. Will they do a good job, yes. To each his own though. The product that you and I are familiar with from the late 80's to early 90's.... well most of todays stuff is just a shadow of it. Some things have indeed changed and some for the better, but there is a whole pile more crap masquerading as good gear than ever before, sadly, it is because of forums like this that they have become popular.
