i want to get two ed nine.1s, but i see each amp can draw a max of 130A, why so much. how big of an alt would i need to get to be able to safely run two of these. i currently have a 80A alt. i would also like know what people think of these compared to other brands like orion, Rf, crossfire, and other high end brands. does this think really put out 1200 @ 1ohm. is it over or underated. can anyone recommend an amp that puts out the same wattage, around the same price, but draws fewer amps.

the eD nine.1 amp is under rated. the 1200 watts was rated at 12 volts. Most cars run around 13.8+ volts.

anyways i think the eD nine.1 amp at $300 (via coupon code) is one of the best values around.

not sure what alt you would need though. sry.

Dont give ur money to Ben. There are better amps out there.

Theres no reason not to go with an ED amp. The 9.1 is underrated, youll get more than the 1200 at 1 ohm out of it.

It wont draw 130 amps of current all the time, hence the MAX rating.

Id recommend the 9.1.

there was a thread on icix i believe where the 9.1 was benched at 1500 watts rms at 1 ohm at about 14.5 volts. also like stated earlier it does not constantly draw 130 amps and with proper wire siz, ground, big 3, etc. you should be fine.
