Rear Speakers, Good or Bad?

alot of people at elitecaraudio forum dont use rear speakers, they only have Front L and R. They argue itll mess up the sound stage and are totally uneeded.

Having Rear speakers isnt that bad right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif ? my passengers need something to listen to and having a SUV with only 2 front speakers seems kinda lacking.

I have Diamond Hex s600a components in the front (powered by 150w x2), and Diamond M661a components in the rear (powered by 75w x2). i didnt install them yet, but im assuming theyll sound pretty good, even with the rears.

I don't like having my sound stage pulled back...ruins the imaging IMO. Although my vehicle doesn't have any spots for rear speakers - so it's a moot point for me.

I don't like them. Haven't had them for 5yrs+ and haven't missed them one bit (and actually like it better not having them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ). The only reason (IMO) to have them is to give the rear seat passengers a little bit of fill if you are constantly carrying passengers, or if you have 5.1 surround sound. If you don't have rear passengers vary often, a well powered and well setup comp set up front is all that is needed.

Just be sure you fade to the front so that not much is comin' out of the rear and the large majority of the sound is coming from your front speakers.

I just use stock speakers and run off the deck for my rear fill.

I think rear fill is great for improved volume, and if you have a deck with decent time alignment you can still create an awesome soundstage.

I had to add rear speakers because my car is loud and I was pushing my fronts too hard to get the volume I needed to hear anything
