RE Sub "PLEASE READ"

Thank you for the quick responces. I could not find reaudio.com for the life of me.

I'm having the RE 8 installed and the audio shop wanted to know the RMS, ohms etc etc. They wanted this info so they could decide on a amp. I think they carry MTX as their primary amp. Any suggestions?

I've tried calling 6-7 times and I just get the recording. No way to leave a message.

ahhh okay.

-but-

they shoulda been able to measure dcr on their own... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Is this going in a small sealed, i wouldn't hesitate upping the wattage to 200rms or even 250 rms. peace

P.S. obviously you can tell by looking, BUT if it had 2 voice coils...it's dual 4. BUT, the earlier re8's were SINGLE 2ohm. So, if you have one VC it's 2ohm.

Thanks for all the info. I think the shop is going to go with a 200W MTX amp. How does the ohm thing work... is 2, 4 or 8 better? I think he mentioned installing a 200W MTX and something about 2 ohms.

I don't understand any of this stuff. I simply want to cleanup the sound while keeping the factory stereo. It's a Lariat and has a decent system, but I'm sure the sub will make a world of difference.

Thanks.....

None are better, just different options and determines how much power you'll get out of the amp. DVC's give you more options for amplifiers (generally) since they can be wired into more than one impedence.

I'm not for sure, but I think they might go with-

Thunder282 2-Channel Amplifier

The crossover on this work-horse, 2-channel amp is 18dB/octave at 85Hz, switchable from low pass/high pass or full-range. Each features a buffered, isolated full-range output. This lets you daisy chain amps to other subwoofer amps or to high frequency amps. If you plan to use the high level inputs from the factory radio, our "Smart Engage" auto-turn-on circuit makes installation a snap - you won't have to remove the factory radio.
