RE Se 12: ported or sealed?

Who said that? I told him just about the same thing you did, except I just went ahead and designed the box to make it even easier.

dont be hollerin at me! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thats what the website reccomends dumbass.... i have had my single se 12 in a .75 cuft sealed, 1 cuft sealed, 1.25 cuft sealed, and 2.2 cu ft vented tuned to 32hz

and the vented is by far the winner. I couldnt tell much of a difference in SQ between sealed and vented, but vented gets way deeper and louder......and this was with 700 rms to it, just my .02
I would say you are comparing apples with oranges. Of course the vented will get lower with the alignments you have choosen to compare. With my box calc. fascility I get Qtc 0,7698, and an F3 of 40,63 Hz with Vb 1.25 ft^3. With a slightly larger box than your ported box, a size of 2,4 ft^3 you would get a Qtc of 0,707 or close and a F3 of 36,2 Hz which would be at least a bit closer in comparison to your ported box tuned at 32 Hz?

Wrong
It sounds great sealed. Depends on how much room you want to lose, and power?

If you have only 500-600 RMS, go ported, for efficiency purposes.

If you have more power to feed it, go with sealed.
Haha. You can't say it as if it is so. Well, you can, but that doesn't make it so. Maybe you have forgotten that other people may like other things and like subs louder than you. That maybe, not everyone in the world has the same tastes as you. That car audio is VERY subjective.

With that said, I had a Mag off 1000 sealed and it wasn't enough so I ported. I can easily see someone doing that with a single 12".

How about that same sub sealed in a odd shaped fiberglass enclosure firing to the side of the trunk ?

I need trunk space and the side is about the only location I can go with.

if you have alot of power like 700rms or more, try sealed. i like my SE sealed, gets low, quite loud.

I don't have any power just yet. I'm in the process of getting ideas.

Thank you for making my choices clearer.

Listen to TeamPSI...he knows his shiz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've got one of my 12" SEs ported right now (I have another, just waiting on an enclosure). It blends SO well with the rest of my setup...I can't wait to get my new enclosure and 2nd sub.
