re audio vs kicker

ok well i will have the money to do electrical upgrades very soon so how much does a alternator run to handle basically 2500-3000rms
depends. new? $300 easy. used? anywhere from 100-300 prolly. i just picked up a 260a alt for my accord for $110. HELL of a deal. check ebay. and do searches on here and other forums.

 
yeah maybe if you keep your RPMs above 4000 at the red lights.
Maybe if you have a sh!tty alt then yeah, mine works perfectly fine at idle, at 900rpms.

i think i have a 130 amp alt stockso what should i upgrade too and what can a 130 alt handle
You can do 2000w all together..
with a 200a alt you'll be set for 3000w, 300a you'll be good to 5Kw

maybe i will just hook it all up and see how the volatge is after everything

in my truck i have the edge where i can bump up my idle rpm to high as needed so i might just do that instead of doing a alt change

 
so the kicker 1500 plus the kicker 650.4 and the kicker 550.2 is all the amps i will have and the 550.2 wont be running all the time just when i decide to turn it on that is for seleniums for when i am at partys or jsut want to piss someone off by blaring loud music out of my grill of the truck

and the 650.4 2 channels wont be getting all 120rms just around 50rms for the rears and the fronts will get all 120rms so i think my alt should handle it

if not i can bump up my idle so i should be fine

well for your system alone youd need

I=P/V = 2500W/14V = ~180amps

add your stock alt to that cause your car prolly needs all or close to the 130 it pushes.

so youd need like a 300amp alt in theory. you can likely get away with less though, especially with a nice battery and your big 3 done. i dont see a 250amp alt being a problem.

i call BS on that. a 130a alt with a what? 3kw system or whatever you said? no fvckin way man.

 
well thanks i will prob try to stock alt and see how that does bc basicaly there will only be the 1500 plus the 650 but its only going to be putting out around 350

so 1800-2000 constantly and every now and then the 550.2 kicker amp wil be tunred on just for highs so at idle i think will be my nly prob so if i do the big 3 it might help if not i will replace alt or get a second batt

that wont make a big enough difference. youll just waste more gas. trust me dude, just get a HO alt. its your best bet and pretty much your only choice.

DONT get a second bat. all that does is allow you to listen to it slightly longer before dimming starts. the root of the problem is the source of the power...the alt. even at 1800-2000w i really dont know if your alt will cover it still. thats reeeeally pushing it. but go ahead and try. if its too much unplug the subamp till you get a better alt...no big deal.
