"snickering" towards JL systems?

a few db is nothing to sneeze at. and honestly, i never cared for the sound of the w7's. its unique, and maybe it would grow on me, but they somehow sound artificial to me. the w6's i like, but the output lacks.

i never said i didnt like jl, i said they are overpriced and nothing i would pay for anymore, back in 98 i had a pair of 12w6's that i loved at the time, but it was my first system, and was what the local shop told me was the best.

as for the rest of what jl sells, they're just as overpriced, especially the home audio gear. same with basically every other mainstream company, like azbass says. i understand why the cost more, i just don't pay it, because i dont have to. i get louder, sound better, and am happier, for cheaper.

am i wrong for not paying their premiums?

am i missing something? i got an amp that does ****ed near to 3kw for about 400 bucks. 3 jl 1000/1's, even used, hell even BROKEN, would run you how much? and what would JL tell you to do with yourself if one ever happened to break on you and you didnt have your papers in order?

perhaps you could humor me and do a rough price on a comparable system to mine running all jl, minus the head unit? at lets say 75 percent retail price.

i am aware, and thats another reason i stay away from them. you dont pay their retail, you have no warranty, and can't even pay them to fix your gear if something happens to it. i'm talking used. people sell used 1000/1's for about what i paid for my 2kd.

i just looked up a crossfire VR2000d online price. im seeing 949.00~ . now i know a shop is not gona sell this for under that.

how does that change the fact that i got a used crossfire amp that does 3 times the power a used jl amp would for the same price? or the fact that crossfire will actually fix my amp for me?

fyi i'm not some kind of crossfire fanboy. i bought the 2kd because it was a good deal, and the 602 because it matched, and was also a good deal.

JL will fix your amp if you buy it authorized. im not talking about used here.

and you are comparing apples to oranges.

some people or companys dont need 3k watts amps.

isnt the 1000/1 something like 700 authorized? how much does 1kw cost you, authorized, from any other company? i wont buy ed because of some of ben's less than admirable business practices in the past, but for the sake of comparison, doesn't a nine.1 do about 14-1500 watts @ 14.4v and 1 ohm, for about half what the 1000/1 is?

all i'm saying is you can get more for less. that isnt debatable.

also, most people want to jack the guy with jl gear. most local people havent heard of crossfire, let alone fi. not that i go around showing everyone my equipment, but my friends know i have a stereo, and people talk.

yes you can, im not fighting you there. there are reasons they price the unit like they do. different patents. different tooling, componets used, QUALITY. that effects the price.

im saying JL is not the only company that costs a lot. so there should not be a thread every month *****ing about it.

Jl accomidations are a real nice price.. For everything, but then you really see how bad they jack up the prices..
